On our latest foray to London, we were welcomed back home to one of our favorites, the Dorchester, a quintessential British Hotel. Between the floral accents in the fabrics, and the Italian-made carpets, each corridor is specifically designed for that space. This hotel is stately and elegant, while warm and hospitable at the same time.
The Dorchester Hotel was just opening a new restaurant – The Grill, and it wasn’t opened yet to public reservations, but we were privileged to get a taste of the menu at dinner with our friends. The walls have a dark under-layer of burnished bronze, which give them a light glow. The really impressive thing about the Grill was that the entire staff was incredibly knowledgeable; everyone knew everything about each dish and each wine pairing. The scallops were spectacular. They served a Chicken for Two, which was roasted and brought to the table to be carved.
We went down to The Bar at the Dorchester, where there was a guitarist playing. I even got the chance to sing a duet with him.
The next night, we went to Ham Yard, a new hotel that had recently opened. The hotel has curated art throughout, and the fabric on the walls was made from men’s suit fabric. We had dinner there, and the food was indeed delicious.
