Universal & Disney Magic
A VIP take on a classic vacation experience that will make you feel like a kid again.
We skipped the lines and slept in style to create a memorable Orlando vacation that will astound parents and children alike. But you don’t need to have kids to enjoy this Disney experience.
We began our trip at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, located less than five miles from Epcot. The hotel is magnificent, adorned with marble and accented with glittering chandeliers. It feels regal and classic without being overdone, luxurious but not overwhelming. We were escorted to our room, where a lovely welcome plate with a homemade pretzel croissant was waiting for us. Our suite was sumptuous and spacious, outfitted with a kitchenette and a balcony. We had some time before dinner, so we relaxed with a watermelon mojito in a private cabana by one of the property’s two pools and were quickly reminded that Orlando isn’t just for families.
After gathering at the hotel’s stylish Peacock Alley, where we had a notable gin cocktail served in a hollowed, iced ostrich egg, we dined at the Waldorf’s award-winning Bull and Bear. Although it is quintessential fine-dining, the vibe is warm and welcoming, and we noted the clientele included couples, families and groups of friends.
The next day, we traveled to Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal for breakfast. The resort is inspired by Portofino, Italy, and outfitted with cobblestone streets and lovely lakes and villa-like facades. After conveniently arriving by water-taxi ride to Universal Studios from the resort, we enjoyed an incredible VIP tour of the park. This package allows you to skip all the lines, so you can cover a lot more ground and spend more time riding the rides and enjoying the experience rather than waiting to do so. We felt carefree, like kids again, as we explored the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and rode the 3-D Despicable Me Minion ride. We toured Islands of Adventure the same way—without a wait—and rode nearly every ride, some of them twice.
Not to be missed is the Four Seasons Orlando, located within the gates of Walt Disney World. It’s a lovely mixture of Disney magic and the white glove service synonymous with the Four Seasons brand. Here we enjoyed a Character Breakfast with some notable guests—Mickey, Minnie and the gang. It is a wonderful way to snag your photos and autographs while avoiding the crowds at the park.
If we adults (at least technically speaking) had this much fun, we can only imagine how unforgettable this trip would be for children. Upgrading the already magical Orlando experience with VIP touches and exquisite accommodations ensures that your entire family enjoys your vacation—if you don’t choose to leave the kids behind! Experience Disney without the wait just once and you’ll never want to do it any other way.
